CHP seeking hospice volunteer trainees

Hospice volunteer training sessions will begin Monday, February 27, at Community Health Professionals’ Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center, 1155 Westwood Drive.

Sessions will be held on five consecutive Mondays through March 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each week. Fifteen hours of training is required.

Training includes information about caring for patients and families who are receiving hospice care. Volunteers give emotional support and care to patients and families at home, in extended care facilities and at the inpatient hospice center.

They may spend time reading with patients, visiting and listening. Volunteers are not involved with lifting or giving medications.

Sessions may be rescheduled if attendance falls below two attendees. Please bring current driver license, proof of auto insurance and social security card.
