Buckeye Youth makes Valentines for vets

Buckeye Youth members recently met at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 to make Valentines for Veterans.

Veterans provide a portion of the program for Buckeye Youth's Valentines for Veterans event. (Buckeye Youth photo)

The event is a nationwide tribute to disabled veterans, as many groups, organizations, and non-profit youth groups gather to make valentines. Buckeye Youth’s valentines are distributed to the disabled veterans at the Veterans Administration hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

A color guard was present to recite “The Pledge of Allegiance” with the group and demonstrate a drill. John Wiley explained the history of the United States flag to the group and a read a poem about the flag.  Those present in the color guard were VFW members Arnie Baker and Wiley and American Legion members Kent Long, Gary Fiegel and Michelle Klutka, with Wiley also holding a Legion membership.

Buckeye Youth appreciates all of those present and their help with this event.

Buckeye Youth is a United Way Agency.
