Joy L. Thomas

Joy L. Thomas, 53, of Van Wert, died Friday evening, February 25, 2012, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind.

She was born February 19, 1959, in Van Wert, the daughter of Ronald D. and Carole J. (DuCheney) Long, both of who survive in Middle Point. She married Dave Thomas, who survives in Van Wert.

Mrs. Thomas was office manager of the Middle Point Home Telephone Company for 10 years. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and a member of the Board of Directors of Northwest Net. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

In addition to her parents and husband, survivors include two children, Kyle M. (fiancée Cindy O’Neill) Aulby of Secor, Ill., and Sheena L. (Steve) Wenzel of Toledo; a sister, Kim D. (Kent) Hughes of Middle Point; and two grandchildren, Lain and Patrick, of Secor, Ill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 29, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: First United Methodist Church or Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Van Wert County.
