Georgia Shope

Georgia Shope, 85, of Rockford, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012, at her daughter’s home in St. Marys.

She was born December 18, 1926, in Celina, the daughter of the late Henry and Lawrena (Deitsch) Alt. On January 18, 1947, she married Frederick Shope, who preceded her in death on April 20, 1996.

Survivors include two children, Sharon (Tom) Menchofer of St. Marys, and Mick (Nancy) Shope of Rockford; three sisters-in-law, Betty Shope, Jean Springer and Virginia Shope; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and nine great-great-stepgrandchildren.

A brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Fern Alt, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Steve Waterman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Olive Branch Church of God in Ohio City.
