Performers hoping to prove their talent

Contestants from throughout the region will get the chance to show off their entertainment prowess and compete for prize money in the fifth annual “Ohio Has Talent!” show on March 31, starting at 7 p.m., at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio in Van Wert.
The benefit show for Community Health Professionals’ Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center showcases 20 performing acts of singing, dancing and instrumental music.
Most entries are from northwest Ohio, but there are also performers from Beavercreek, Kettering, Mount Vernon, Norwich, and Urbana. Winners are determined by audience vote.
Van Wert/Delphos area contestants include the following:
- Hayleigh Bacome — a fifth grader at Delphos St. John Elementary has been dancing for 10 years. She has performed in The Nutcracker and Ohio Northern University’s “Holiday Spectacular.”
- Quentin Bouillon — a 16-year-old junior at Crestview High School. He has performed in over 20 plays and won various scholarships for his acting, singing and dancing.
- Ann Brake — a 15-year-old from Ohio City who has been studying dance for more than eight years. She will be dancing to a piece that was written by her brother, James.
- Sam Duquette — a 10-year-old from Van Wert who has been singing since age three. She also plays piano and drums. She will be accompanied by her mother, Janel.
- Kaden Hohman and Saylor Wise — Kaden is in kindergarten at Lincolnview Elementary in Van Wert County and Saylor is a first grader at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Van Wert. This duo has been dancing together for about a year and has already won several awards.
- Katie Honigford — a 17-year-old from Delphos St. John’s High School, her resume includes musical performances in the Delphos and Lima area. She is an honor student and is active in several school activities and organizations.
- Cameron Jones — a 14-year-old freshman at Delphos Jefferson High School. He has studied guitar for three years and is currently studying classical guitar. Jones has performed in several musicals and wants to become a professional musician.
- Breece Rohr, Kambrynn Rohr, Jose Schulte and Madilyn Schulte — each attend Delphos St. John’s and enjoy dancing and cheerleading. Breece and Madilyn are 13 years old, Jose is 10 and Kambrynn is 8.
- Ryan Wells — a 2009 graduate of Van Wert High School who attends Rhodes State College, studying communications. He sings in a barbershop chorus in Defiance.
- Emma Wurst — a ninth grader at Delphos Jefferson High School, started playing piano in fifth grade and has taken vocal lessons for three years. She is sit-in principal trombonist with the Lima Area Youth Orchestra.
