Harold B. Fortney
Harold B. Fortney, 83, of Convoy, died at 7:03 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Ind.
He was born October 25, 1928, in Dixon, the son of the late Earl and Mabel (Miller) Fortney. On August 19, 1952, he married Peggy Louise (Cranor) Fortney, who preceded him in death on February 24, 2011.
Survivors include a daughter, Ilona (Ed) Welker of Convoy; two sons, Jody (Kelly) Fortney of Medina and Michael (Jennifer) Fortney of Crawfordsville, Ind.; three brothers, Esten M. (Betty) Fortney and Arlo G. Fortney, both of Convoy, and Vance (Sue) Fortney of Fort Wayne, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Gene Fortney, Don Fortney and Morgan Fortney; and a sister, Helen Plumley, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, at Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church near Convoy, with the Rev. Wayne Kargas officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials: American Cancer Society or Countryside Chapel UM Church.
