Fleming state indoor 1600 runner-up

AKRON — Van Wert junior Jared Fleming competed in the 1600-meter run on Saturday at the Ohio Indoor Track and Field Championships, and came away with a impressive runner-up finish.

Fleming claimed his second place finish with a great time of 4:23.83, as he comes off an all state performance in cross country and a sixth place finish in the 1600 at the 2011 state outdoor championships.

Steve Weaver of Napoleon, the defending state champion in the 1600 meters, won the championship in a time of 4:17.08. Another local finisher was Abel Flores of Defiance, in sixth place with a time of 4:27.92.
