Sink speaks at Washington press briefing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Family Health Care of Northwest Ohio CEO Nancy Sink will be participating in a briefing in Washington today on the increased demand on health care entities such as hers.
The briefing will be held this morning at the Longworth House Office Building. According to a news release, Sink one of three community health center officials who will talk about how many Americans are turning to such centers for primary health care, but will also noted that there are not enough centers to take care of demand nationwide.
On the two-year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) will release a new report about the unmet primary health care needs of millions of Americans titled “Health Wanted: The State of Unmet Need for Primary Health Care in America.”
Along with Sink, speaking will be Sip Mouden, CEO of Community Health Centers of Arkansas and Allen J. Bennett, president & CEO of Park West Health Systems Inc. in Baltimore, Md.
Family Health Care of Northwest Ohio (FHC) was founded in 2004 as Family Caring Clinic, in associated with Community Health Professionals. FHC has been able to provide medical services at affordable rates at a time with an increasing number of persons are without insurance or are on Medicaid. The amount of payment is derived from a sliding scale of household income.
In the past, Sink has called her agency a safety net for the community, providing medical services while taking the burden off other physicians in the area who are limited as to the number of uninsured patients they can carry.
Community Health Centers, also known as Federally Qualified Health Centers, serve more than 20 million patients and operate over 8,100 health care delivery sites in every state and U.S. territory. Health centers also provide one-quarter of primary care visits for the nation’s low-income population, making up a substantial share of the nation’s primary care infrastructure.
