Evelyn I. Thompson

Evelyn I. Thompson, 87, of Paulding, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Paulding County Hospital in Paulding.

She was born October 27, 1924, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Samuel and Bernice (Fisher) Buerkley. On November 15, 1946, she married Donald E. “Lefty” Thompson, who preceded her in death on March 17, 1998.

Survivors include a son, Dennis (JoAnn) Thompson of Breckenridge, Texas; one daughter, Lori (Dave) Clark of Paulding; a sister, Zella Buerkley of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Eugene Vance of Paulding.

Three brothers, Marion, Sam and Jim Buerkley; three sisters, Jane Miller, Donna Pancake and Dorothy Duvall; and a grandson, Mark Thompson, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, at First Christian Church in Paulding, with the Rev. Greg Bibler officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Paulding.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
