William Scott ‘Bill’ Thiebaut
William Scott “Bill” Thiebaut, 49, died at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at his mother’s home in Fort Wayne, Ind., following a long illness.

He was born July 29, 1962, in Greensburg, Pa.
He is survived by his mother, E. Lynne (Craig) Boggs of Fort Wayne, his father and stepmother, William H. and Cindy (Thitoff) Thiebaut of Van Wert; his children, Kaury D. Thiebaut of Van Wert and Kelby D. Thiebaut of Angola, Ind.; a grandson, Tristin N. Thiebaut of Van Wert; and three sisters, Robin (Stephen) Springer of Convoy, Sherry Wermer of Noblesville, Ind., and Holly Thiebaut of Fort Wayne. He was also the favorite uncle of many surviving nieces and a nephew.
Bill graduated from Van Wert High School and Vantage Career Center in 1980. He joined the U.S. Navy afterward, serving on the USS Dixie and the USS Pyro until 1983. Bill worked for All American Homes, Advanced Mixers, and Williams Construction. Bill enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Boggs; his paternal grandparents, Francis “Tiny” Thiebaut and Irene (Kerin) Thiebaut Daffler; and maternal grandparents Jane (Freeman) and Lyle Weldon and Richard Craig.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with Pastor Jim Burns officiating. The combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert, will perform military rites.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials: Heartland Hospice in Fort Wayne, Ind., and American Legion Post 178 to benefit veterans and military families in need.
