VW boys’ tennis team loses to Wapak

The Van Wert boys’ tennis team was defeated by Wapakoneta 5-0 on Monday.

The Cougars’ No. 1 singles player, Nathan Knodel, lost 6-3, 6-2, while No. 2 singles player Jon Lisa was defeated 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). No. 3 singles player Alex Baer lost 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles play, Van Wert’s No. 1 doubles team of Trey Stemen and Josh Hill lost 6-0, 6-0, while the No. 2 doubles team of Eric Yeung and Robbie Trittschuh battled, but lost in three sets, 6-1, 4-6 6-0.

“We play hard and will get better as the season goes on,” said Coach Mitch Price.

The Cougars play again this evening against St. Marys.
