Melvin R. Gable

Melvin R. Gable, 64, of Delphos, died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born April 25, 1947, in Lima, the son of the late Clarence and Edna (Dickrede) Gable. On May 30, 1969, he married June (Heitmeyer) Gable, who survives in Delphos.

Other survivors include two sons, Clint (Diane) Gable of Delphos and Mike (Vina) Gable of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Kimberly (Dustin) Hostetler of Wooster; one brother, James (Margie) Gable of Delphos; a sister, Betty Gable of Decatur, Ind.; one brother-in-law, Richard (Diana) Landwehr; and seven grandchildren.

Two sisters, Ethel Gable and Mildred Landwehr, also preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Jacob Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos.

Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 7:30 Friday evening.

Preferred memorials: Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation or St. John’s School.
