Several hurt in school bus-car crash
ANTWERP — The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating an injury crash that occurred Tuesday at approximately 4:30 p.m. in Paulding County.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on Ohio 49 at the intersection of Ohio 111 — between Antwerp and Payne — and involved a 2005 Toyota Sienna and a school bus from Hicksville Exempted Schools transporting a baseball team to an afternoon game. Eight students from the bus had to be transported to Paulding County Hospital, along with five passengers from the other vehicle. None of those injuries were considered serious, but the driver of the Toyota, whose name has not been released, was flown by life-flight helicopter from the scene to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., where her condition is unknown at this time.
Assisting at the scene were the Paulding County Sheriff’s Department, Paulding County EMS, Antwerp EMS and the Paulding County Emergency Management Agency.
The crash remains under investigation, and an updated press release will be sent when more information becomes available.
