BRYAN — The Van Wert High School boys’ tennis team traveled to Bryan and walked away with a 3-2 victory over the Golden Bears.

Van Wert’s No. 1 singles player Nathan Knodel won 6-2, 6-1, while No. 3 singles player Eric Yeung was victorious, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, and the No. 2 doubles team of Luke Stevens and Alex Bair defeated their opponents 1-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (8-6).

Van Wert Coach Mitch Price had compliments for Knodel’s performance. “Nathan is playing the best tennis of his career,” the coach said, noting that the No. 2 doubles team played well and overcame a tough third-set tiebreaker.

“I am so proud of this team, and we are playing red-hot tennis,” Coach Price added. “We’re excited and ready to keep it going.”

The Cougar boys are now 3-5 overall and have won two matches in a row.
