A group of local citizens announces that the first Van Wert Cash Mob will take place Thursday, April 26, and invites the community to come and show its support of a local business.
Organizers of the Cash Mob have been working with other Ohio communities to learn how these events work and to make them fun for everyone who participates. At the same time, organizers of this event hope that it will bring awareness of the wonderful stores and restaurants in the community and bring new faces into the doors of each store.
“Our goal for the Cash Mob is not just to make a one day impact, but to generate excitement about residents supporting their neighbors’ businesses,” says Adam Ries, Main Street Van Wert program manager, who is helping organize this event. “Many of the Mob participants will probably end up visiting a store or eatery they’ve never been in before, or haven’t visited in a long time.
“We hope that everyone meets someone new and learns about the products and services that are offered at our own Van Wert businesses,” Ries added.
A Cash Mob is meant to make an impact at a locally owned business by having a large number of people spend just $10 during the event. The “mobs” are also organized with a bit of mystery for those who participate.
“April 26 we will meet in the parking lot at South Washington and Central,” says Eric Hurless, another event organizer. “Then we will walk as a group to the store that has been chosen, which will remain a surprise until everyone arrives.”

The Mob would like to remind the community that all updates and info about future Cash Mob events will come from these two online sources.
