This past Saturday we awarded three cash awards and five honorable mentions at our opening reception for the Wassenberg Art Center High School Invitational.

First place went to Caleb Logan of Van Wert High School for his pencil drawing, “Forgotten Wasteland”. Second place was award to Daniel Thompson also of Van Wert High School for his pencil drawing. Third place went to Tanya Korte of Fort Jennings School for her ceramic bowl with intricate sgraffito carvings. Honorable mentions were awarded to: Aly Munger of Paulding Exempted, Natasha Light of Van Wert and to Morgan Ricker, Gabrielle German and Tyler Blankmeyer, all of Fort Jennings. Congratulations to all these students for their excellent artwork!

Huge thank yous go to art teachers Tom Emerine of Van Wert High School, Linda McCann of Crestview High School, Joy Noriega of Fort Jennings High School, Kay Wilusz of Lincolnview High School, Judi Snook of Wayne Trace and Sandy Dobblelaere of Paulding Exempted Schools. It takes a lot of effort to be the kind of teacher willing to do the work necessary to bring their students to the forefront. If your young person has such a teacher, their commitment to your child is truly a gift. The High School Invitational will be on display until May 5, so hurry in and support the area’s youth.
