Kent M. Merkle

Kent M. Merkle, 53, of Ohio City, died at 12:26 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born May 21, 1958, in Van Wert, the son of Barbara J. (Walls) Merkle, who survives in rural Ohio City, and the late David Frederick Merkle. On March 24, 1984, he married Susan J. (Hoenie) Merkle, who also survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Thomas K. (Paula) Merkle, Samuel G. Merkle, and Joseph D. Merkle, all of Ohio City; a daughter, Kelly S. Merkle of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three brothers, Eric R. (Brenda) Merkle and Jay V. (Patricia) Merkle, both of Williamston, Mich., and Van D. (Tracey) Merkle of Dayton; one sister, Linda J. (David) Sowers of Grove City; and a grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, at Grace Bible Church in Van Wert, with the Revs. Mark Soto and W. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday at the church.
