Evelyn L. Kelly

Evelyn L. Kelly, 87, of Van Wert, died at 12:47 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at her residence.

She was born September 17, 1924, in Alexandria, Ind., the daughter of the late Simon and Etta (Lewis) Crum. On June 8, 1944, she married the Rev. Alva B. Kelly, who preceded her in death on March 12, 2009.

Mrs. Kelly was a homemaker who retired in 2001 as co-manager of Homestead Village in Van Wert. She attended First Friends Church in Van Wert and also was a member of Alexandria Church of the Nazarene in Alexandria, Ind.

Survivors include six children, Ronald (Pat) Kelly of Bealton, Va., Rex (Sonya) Kelly of Convoy, Joy Kelly, Kirby Kelly, Paula Kelly and Christina Kelly, all of Van Wert; a sister-in-law, Vivian Crum of Alexandria, Ind.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Otha, Odis and Earl Crum; and a sister, Marie Scott, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul Hamrick officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 11, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Alexandria Church of the Nazarene.
