WCOCTF busts suspected heroin house
Information submitted
DELPHOS — In recent months, law enforcement officials were made aware of an alleged “heroin house” at 209 E. Fourth St. in Delphos and agents of the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force began a short-term investigation into this residence. The investigation culminated Thursday at approximately 1:53 p.m. when task force members, along with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department Swat Team, served a search warrant at the residence.
Found inside the home were the following items, which were seized for evidentiary purposes:
- A small quantity of suspected heroin
- A small quantity of suspected marijuana
- An unidentified pharmaceutical substance
- Several pieces of suspected drug paraphernalia
- Several hypodermic syringes
- An unidentified powdery substance
No people were found inside the residence when the warrant was served; however, police have identified a 20-year-old male suspect who lives at the residence. The male was not home at the time the warrant was served, but is facing a number of felony drug related charges as a result of this investigation. His name will be released once he is formally charged.
Police do not suspect that other family members living in this house were involved in any illegal activity, as all evidence indicates they were unaware of the alleged illegal activity being conducted by the suspect.
This is the ninth drug related search warrant that has been executed within Delphos since November 2011. Many times, individuals are not arrested at the time of the search warrant. These individuals have not “gotten away” with their alleged crimes. This is due to complexities within the justice system. Formal charges are forthcoming when appropriate.
The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from the following agencies; Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department, Lima Police Department, Shawnee Township Police Department, Delphos Police Department and multiple state and federal agencies. This task force operates within a multi-county area to combat drugs and major crimes.
