Elmer L. Giessler

Elmer L. Giessler, 75, of Van Wert, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born October 31, 1936, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Victor A. and Hazel (Markley) Giessler. He married Joann E. (Mauller) Giessler, who survives in Van Wert.

Mr. Giessler retired in 1991 after 30 years at Aeroquip Corporation in Van Wert. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert and a member of the Van Wert Horseshoe Club.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two children, Gary (Lisa) Giessler of Van Wert and Patti (Doug) Poling of Convoy; one brother, Gene (Shirley) Giessler of Van Wert; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Tony) Garwood, Christine Gamble, Justin Gamble, Dan Giessler, Jesse Giessler, Dustin Poling, Kelsie Poling, Bailey Poling and Madi Poling; and a great-grandchild, Keaten Garwood.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Revs. Scott Campbell and Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the funeral home.
