Mary S. Donnel

Mary S. Donnel, 92, of Van Wert, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born May 1, 1920, in Van Wert, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Robert A. and Laura (Murphy) Thomas. In 1953, she married Glen Donnel, who preceded her in death on January 28, 2010.

Survivors include two children, Nancy (Marvin) Mihm of Van Wert and Marie (Ken) Haines of Justin, Texas; a brother, Peter (Evelyn) Thomas of Van Wert; one sister-in-law, Mildred (John) Williams of Xenia; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Eight brothers, Ernest, Robert, Forest, Tom, Russ, Jim, Chuck and John Thomas, and a sister, Margaret Thomas, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Lee Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the funeral home.
