LIMA — Kade Gibson, a Diesel and Automotive Technology major, was chosen as the May 2012 Snap-On 110 Percent Award winner at the University of Northwestern Ohio.

Gibson was nominated by Tim Levan, an instructor in the College of Applied Technologies at UNOH. He is originally from Van Wert and graduated from Crestview High School.

Gibson was nominated for his work ethic and diagnostic skills in the classroom. During a Steering and Suspension class, he helped diagnose multiple suspension related concerns and explained to fellow students how to properly diagnose other suspension problems.

“Kade was like having an assistant instructor,” Levan said of Gibson. “He would not hesitate to jump in and lend a hand during a project.

“Kade’s knowledge on procedures and tricks of the trade are outstanding for a student his age,” Levan added. “Kade always diagnosed and repaired vehicles with speed and efficiency”.

Levan maintains that Gibron’s hard work will definitely pay off upon graduation. The Crestview graduate began classes at UNOH in November 2010 and will complete his coursework in all both majors by May 2013.  He is currently employed by Lee Kinstle’s Chevrolet, Buick, GMC.

The 110 Percent Award is sponsored by Snap-On Tools at the University of Northwestern Ohio.  Each session, nominations are turned into the Deans by the University’s College of Applied Technologies’ instructors.  The winner(s) each session is then chosen by the Division Heads with determining factors being grade point average, outstanding performance, and attendance.  Dale Stahl, Snap-On representative for UNOH, presents each winner of the 110 Percent Award with a Snap-On jacket and tool set valued at more than $250.
