Patrol provides update on US 30 crash

The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating an minor injury crash that occurred on Monday at 5:04 p.m.

The two-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. 30 at the intersection of Liberty Union Road. William Rockwood, 27 of Scott, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier and John Lenz, 35, of the Lucas County community of Oregon, was driving a 2008 Freightliner Ryder rental truck.

According to troopers, the Cavalier, which was southbound, pulled from the stop sign on Liberty Union Road and was struck by the eastbound truck.

Rockwood was transported to Van Wert County Hospital by Brickner Ambulance Service for treatment of his injuries, while his vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

Assisting at the scene were the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department and Convoy Fire and EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
