VWCH All-Star Football Game tonight

The annual Van Wert County Hospital All-Star Football Game will be held this evening in Eggerss Stadium in Van Wert. The game begins at 7:30 p.m., while the gates open at 6:30 this evening. Admission is $5 a person.

This is the 13th edition of the game, which began in 2000 and pits star players from the Western Buckeye League against those from the Northwest and Midwest Athletic conferences. The NWC/MAC teams own an 8-4 advantage in the series after winning the first five games. The NWC/MAC team will also be defending its 38-0 win in 2011.

Van Wert’s Austin Reichert is the only Van Wert player on the WBL squad, which is coached by Kenton’s Mike Mauk.

Area players on the NWC/MAC team include Matt Holden, Noah Gebert, Drew Miller and Jared Burger of Crestview, Drey Gamble of Paulding, Justin Rode of Delphos Jefferson and Ryan Densel, Tanner Calvelage, Jordan Bergfeld, Kyle Neumeier and Alex Wehri of Delphos St. John’s.
