New Van Wert firefighters announced

Two new Van Wert firefighters have recently completed their one-year probationary periods and are now full-time firefighter/paramedics for the local department.

Van Wert Fire Chief Jim Steele announced that Firefighters Ronald N. Luttrell III and Chance A. Guisinger have completed their probationary period and have been appointed to a permanent position of firefighter/paramedic with the Van Wert Fire Department.
Luttrell is an honor graduate of Shawnee High School and lettered in football and track. He attended Eastern Kentucky University, Rhodes State and Cleveland State University, where he obtained his Firefighter 2, paramedic, and Hazardous Material Technician certifications.
Firefighter Luttrell has previously worked as a volunteer for Shawnee Township Fire Department and is a part-time firefighter for Bath Township Fire Department in Lima. He is a third generation firefighter and currently resides in Lima.
During the course of his probationary period he completed an additional 500-plus hours of training and responded to more than 300 calls in the past year. He is assigned to B shift under Captain John Lahmon.
Guisinger is a graduate of Anna High School, where he was a second team All-Midwest Athletic Conference selection at defensive tackle.

He attended Rhodes State College and Cleveland State University for his paramedic and Hazardous Materials Technician certifications. Guisinger also attended the Ohio Fire Academy for his Firefighter 2 certification and is currently enrolled in the registered nursing degree program at Rhodes State College.
Guisinger is originally from Botkins and was a volunteer firefighter with the Botkins Fire Department. He currently resides in Van Wert.
During the course of his probationary period, Guisinger completed an additional 700 plus hours of training and responded to more than 300 calls in the past year. He is assigned to C shift under Captain Jon Jones.
