Edelbrock newest Van Wert firefighter

Van Wert Fire Chief Jim Steele has announced Wednesday that Firefighter Douglas C. Edelbrock has completed his one-year probationary period and has been appointed to a permanent position of firefighter/paramedic with the Van Wert Fire Department.

Edelbrock is an honor graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School and was a member of the band and track team. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green University in visual media prior to entering the fire service.
Edelbrock also attended Rhodes State College and Cleveland State University for his paramedic and Hazardous Materials Technician certifications, earned his Firefighter 2 certification from the Ohio Fire Academy, and has completed basic and intermediate rope rescue.
Edelbrock is originally from Delphos and was a part time firefighter/paramedic with the Bath Township Fire Department. In 2010, he was honored as the “EMS provider of the year” for Bath Township FD. He currently resides in Van Wert.
During the course of his probationary period, Edelbrock completed an additional 500 plus hours of training and responded to more than 300 calls in the past year. He is assigned to A Shift under Captain Craig King.
