FW Phil to perform Beethoven’s ‘Ninth’
NPAC information
The Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio is proud to present the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra and the SummerFest Chorus in performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on Saturday, July 14, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale at the NPAC Box Office. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.

The Ninth Symphony is perhaps one of the most famous of all classical symphonies ever written. It was composed in 1824 and is considered by many critics to be the greatest piece of music ever written. It also ended up being the last of Beethoven’s symphonies, written after the composer had lost his hearing.
Composed in four movements, it was the first major work to use voices in the symphony. The fourth movement utilizes four soloists and a chorus for the famous “Ode to Joy” portion of the symphony. The Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s performance will include a majestic and powerful 125-voice chorus that will create a rousing finish to this symphony.
Performances of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony are rare because of the instrumentation and voicing needed to pull it off. This is a unique opportunity for this region to experience a performance of this nature.
Maestro Andrew Constantine will conduct the Fort Wayne Phil and the SummerFest Chorus, prepared by Tom Hall, chorus master of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society. Several Van Wert area singers will be participating in the chorus.
Tickets may be obtained at the Niswonger Box Office, online at www.npacvw.org, on Facebook, or at the door the night of the concert.
