VWHS tennis camp scheduled in July

The Van Wert tennis program will be hosting a tennis camp from July 10-13 at the new Van Wert County Foundation Tennis Complex. The camp will run from 1:15-3:15 p.m. each day (click here for a registration form).

The camp is for junior high and high school tennis players and will be taught by Gonzalo Vivas, head tennis coach for Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Coach Vivas was an assistant coach for the Huntington University men’s tennis team and helped guide the Foresters to the Mid-Central College Conference tournament championship in 2010-11, and advance to the NAIA national tournament for the first time.

A native of Lima, Peru, Vivas is a 2010 graduate of Huntington University and spent three seasons as part of the Forester tennis team. While playing at Huntington, Vivas was a three-time MCC All-Conference selection, and in his final two years he teamed with his brother to win the MCC doubles championship.
