Elks Day at Camp Clay well-attended

The sun was hot and the water was inviting. More than 450 kids showed up at the YMCA Camp Clay on Tuesday, June 19 for Elks Day at Camp Clay. This free day at Camp Clay was provided by Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
The participants enjoyed swimming, wall climbing, paddleboats, kayaking, canoeing, the nature trail — and especially the aqua park — from noon until 4 pm. The Elks also provided a free lunch to everyone who attended.
Van Wert Elks Lodge was able to provide this through a Gratitude Grant it received from the Elks National Foundation
“We were extremely pleased with the turn out since this was our first time at providing this type of entertainment for the youth,” said Mike Stanley, Elks lodge chairman of the event.
Van Wert Lodge looks forward to being able to provide another day at Camp Clay in 2013.
