Laing elected to DeMolay district post

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Order of DeMolay held its annual session at the Galt House in Louisville, Ky., from June 20-23. At this meeting, the young men address legislative issues of the order, and elect and install the new officers for the ensuing year. The International Supreme Council, the adult governing body, will also meet at this time.

Robert Laing, son of Dr. Kevin and Barbara Laing of Van Wert, was elected to serve as the District 4 cabinet member for the 46th DeMolay International Congress on Wednesday night and was installed on Saturday, June 23. In this position, Laing will represent the DeMolay Members of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. Additionally, Laing was selected to chair the Congress Committee on International Relations.

DeMolay is an organization dedicated to preparing young men to lead successful, happy, and productive lives. Basing its approach on timeless principles and practical, hands-on experience, DeMolay opens doors for young men ages 12 to 21 by developing the civic awareness, personal responsibility and leadership skills so vitally needed in society today. DeMolay combines this serious mission with a fun approach that builds important bonds of friendship among members in more than 1,000 chapters worldwide.

DeMolay alumni include Walt Disney, John Wayne, Walter Cronkite, football Hall-of-Famer Fran Tarkenton, legendary Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne, news anchor David Goodnow and many others. Each has spoken eloquently of the life-changing benefit gained from their involvement in DeMolay.
