Max R. Van Metre

Max R. Van Metre, 69, of Van Wert, died at 11:27 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born April 8, 1943, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of the late Merril G. and Norma M. (Stemen) Van Metre. He married Elizabeth “Liz” (Swany) Van Metre, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include two children, Gary (Jennifer) Van Metre of Van Wert and Theresa (Todd) Hill of Scott; a sister, Judy (Dick) Miller of Van Wert; one sister-in-law, Darlene Van Metre of Van Wert; and four grandchildren.

Two brothers, E. Gordon and Thomas N. Van Metre, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at the funeral home.
