WBESC board approves personnel actions

The Western Buckeye Educational Service Center Governing Board handled several personnel items during its June board meeting on Wednesday.

Superintendent Brian Gerber reported to the board on adjustments and realignment of personnel needed prior to the start of the 2012-2013 school year. Personnel action taken by the board included the following:

  • Accepted the resignation of Katie Perkins as developmental preschool teacher at Wayne Trace’s Payne Elementary School.
  • Accepted the resignation, due to retirement, of Karla Treece, effective June 1, and approved her re-employment as director of student services at Lincolnview Local Schools.
  • Accepted Gerber’s recommendation for a reduction in force of one truancy officer, due to funding cuts.
  • Adjusted Peg Schilb’s contracted days from 108 to 120 for the 2011-2012 school year.
  • Adjusted Linda Clark’s contacted days, per her request, from 212 to 186, effective July 1.
  • Adjusted Carol Williman’s contracted days from 260 to 212, due to a reduction in force.
  • Employed Matt Krites as Family and Children First director for the 2012-2013 school year.
  • Accepted the resignations of Sandra Etzler and Nicole Adams and also approved the non-renewal of Cindy East.
  • Authorized Extended School Year services to the following personnel and contract service providers: Angie Bonifas, ESY summer occupational therapy services; Michelle Hanneman, ESY summer speech services; Nicole Jefferson, ESY summer OTA services; Paula Lugibihl, ESY summer physical therapy services; Heather Matthews, ESY summer PTA services; Linda Utendorf, ESY summer itinerant PS teacher services.

The board also approved amended Fiscal Year 2012 and Fiscal Year 2013 appropriations as presented, and approved service contracts for the coming year with Antwerp Local, Crestview Local, Lincolnview Local, Paulding Exempted Village, Wayne Trace Local and Delphos City schools, as well as ParcLane Training Center and Thomas Edison Center.

The board also took the following action:

  • Approved an agreement for property and liability insurance at an annual cost of $7,875.
  • Approved a memorandum of understanding between the WBESC and Northwest Ohio Area Computer Services Cooperative.

The board also approved the FY 2013 Family and Children First and Help Me Grow budgets as presented, and approved applications for grant funds.

The governing board went into executive session to discuss personnel items, with no action taken afterwards.

The next meeting of the WBESC Governing Board will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Van Wert ESC office at the Thomas Edison Early Childhood building.
