Robert D. Thompson

Robert D. Thompson, 68, of Coldwater, died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Mercer Health in Coldwater.

He was born April 2, 1944, in Van Wert, the son of the late Ernest C. and Gertrude (McBride) Thompson. He married Gail J. (Knudson) Thompson on August 21, 1966, and she preceded him in death on May 10, 2008. On March 28, 2009, he married Louanna Smith Thompson, and she survives in Coldwater.

Other survivors include three children, Mark Robert Thompson of New Bremen, Linda M. (G. Eric) Temple of Wapakoneta and Cheryl E. (Jeffery G.) Christensen of Troy; four stepchildren, Norman E. (Stephanie) Pennington of Beavercreek, Mark A. (Peg) Pennington of Grove City, Janet L. Pennington of Wolcottville, Ind., and Stephanie (Gary) Sellers of Columbus; four grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; three brothers, Steve (Marcia) Thompson and Phil Thompson, both of Rockford, and Paul (Katy) Thompson of Gallup, N.M.; and a sister, Ann (Gary) Brown of Akron.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Coldwater United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Allen Brown officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
