2 hospitalized after crash on US 127
OSHP information
A head-on collision near Hickory Sticks Golf Club Thursday morning left two people hospitalized, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Van Wert Patrol Post stated that 2001 Dodge 3500 pickup truck driven by Terry Kidwell of Decatur, Ill., was northbound on U.S. 127 when the vehicle reportedly crossed the centerline and hit a semi tractor-trailer rig driven south on 127 by Donald Wells of Van Wert.
Emergency workers freed Kidwell from his pickup truck and he and an unidentified passenger were first taken to Van Wert County Hospital and later life-flighted to an as-yet unnamed Fort Wayne, Ind., hospital for treatment of their injuries. Wells refused treatment.
The accident remains under investigation by the Patrol, which was assisted at the scene by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department, Brickner Ambulance Service and the Ohio City Fire Department.
More information will be released as it is updated.
