Coldwater couple busted for trafficking

Van Wert independent/VWPD information

A suspicious neighbor led to drug trafficking charges against a Coldwater couple on Tuesday.

Janice M. Fetters, 39, and her husband, Daniel E. Fetters, 37, will both face drug trafficking charges when they appear for an initial appearance in Van Wert Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Thursday.

According to the Van Wert Police Department, a neighbor of a city residence saw a lot of people coming and going at the residence, became suspicious and called the police. Officers then staked out the residence and also saw the same kind of activity, which eventually led to a traffic stop of the Fetters’ vehicle for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, the couple was found to be in possession of several “caps” of heroin and are both currently locked up in the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.

“This investigation is a perfect example of a community helping law enforcement with our fight against drugs,” said Lt. Douglas Weigle of the VWPD.

Lt. Weigle also urged other city residents with information about drug activities to either call the VWPD at 419.238.2462 or Crime Stoppers at 419.238.STOP, if they want to remain anonymous.

Crime Stoppers will also pay up to $1,000 for information leading to a conviction.
