Water ski tourney set at Pleasant Shores
Information submitted
Pleasant Shores, the water ski facility in Van Wert, will be hosting the 55th annual Ohio State Water Ski Championships July 21-22. The event will be preceded by Stop 4 of the Buckeye Buoy Tour on Friday, July 20. This is a fun multiple-round tournament in which skiers compete against their own average or personal best.

The public is welcome to attend both events this weekend at Pleasant Shores. Competition begins at 8 a.m. each day. The event beginning on Saturday will consist of three events: slalom, trick, and jump. The slalom event will be held Saturday for all skiers, along with the junior divisions of trick and jump. Sunday will consist of the remaining divisions of trick and jump.
The Buckeye Buoy Tour Stop will have an all-new format this year, with skiers for the event being split between both Pleasant Shores and Shortline Shores, a private lake in St. Marys. After a day’s competition, a group of finalists selected will then vie for the top spot in exciting slalom finals to be held Friday evening at Pleasant Shores.
Water skiers from across the state will converge for these events, including juniors who recently competed in the Junior U.S. Open. So come and check out some of the best water skiers in the area as they compete at one of the premier water ski sites in the Midwest right here in Van Wert County.
