Hiestand Woods work

The Van Wert Community Club, as one of its community services, recently added new stone to the walkways at the Hiestand Woods park.  Sponsors of the project included Stoneco, for the stone; Kennedy-Kuhn, for the use of the John Deere “gator”; and the Van Wert County Engineering Department, for delivering the stone. Club members helping were (from the left) Ashley Knittle, Brad Taylor, Janie Knittle, Keith Allen, Rod Saam, LeiLonnie Taylor and Susan Saam.  Not available for the photo were Ashley Mefferd, Ed Klausing and Kate Guther. The club also announced that it would be developing a less scary portion of The Haunted Woods project, which is done in conjunction with the DARE program as a fundraiser at Halloween. The new portion, called The Family Side, will be for the entire family to enjoy.  The club is currently seeking donations for decorations for the new area. Anyone with items they would like to donate can contact Rod Saam at 419.203.9668 or DARE Officer Keith Allen at 419.605.5839.
