L’view hires Breese for Mendenhall jobs

Van Wert independent

The Lincolnview Local Board of Education met in special session Friday morning to hire a replacement for Brad Mendenhall, the district’s assistant athletic director and physical education teacher who resigned in July after six years of service.

The board approved Mendenhall’s resignation during a special meeting held July 19.

Hired Friday to replace Mendenhall was Lincolnview grad Robbie Breese, who was given a one-year limited contract to teach elementary (K-6) physical education. Breese was also awarded a supplemental contract as assistant athletic director.

Both positions are pending completion of all requirements, including an investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and federal fingerprinting.

The board also approved payment of 54 days of earned, but unused, vacation days to former superintendent Doug Fries. Fries tendered his resignation as superintendent at the regular July board meeting, but could serve in an interim position until a replacement is found.

Fries will begin his new position as superintendent of the Greenville City School District later this month.

The board also held an executive session, with no action taken afterwards, and scheduled a second special meeting for Tuesday, August 7, at 7 p.m. in the district conference room.
