WBESC board OKs personnel actions

PAULDING – The Western Buckeye Educational Service Center Governing Board approved a number of personnel-related items as part of its August meeting on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the board accepted the resignations of preschool teacher Judi Smith and Matt Krites, coordinator of the Paulding County Family and Children First Council, while also non-renewing the contracts of Tianne Pendergrast and Deanna Wann. Paul Clark’s contract was also reduced by 25 days.

Krites was later offered an 80-day contract as technology coordinator and 21st Century Grant coordinator.

The board approved a one-year limited contract to Rachel Powell as a developmental preschool teacher at Thomas Edison, effective the 2012-2013 school year.

The board also hired Virginia Crisp and Sandra Davis as part-time LPNs/aides at Payne Elementary School in the Wayne Trace Local School District; Lori Stefanek as a special needs aide at Thomas Edison; and Coletta Burns as a part-time special needs aide at Thomas Edison.

Ashley Shepherd was also hired as coordinator of the 21st Century Grant, Family and Children First coordinator and OCTF grant coordinator for the 2012-2013 school year.

Jody Dunham’s contract was adjusted to 120 days as Thomas Edison principal, and 100 days as OTCF grant coordinator.

Substitute pay rates were also approved for the 2012-2013 school year and Superintendent Brian Gerber and Carol Williman were selected to serve on the Van Wert Area Schools Insurance Group board for the upcoming school year.

The next meeting of the Western Buckeye Educational Service Center Governing Board will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, at the Van Wert ESC office at Thomas Edison Center.
