Lancer girl golfers 2nd in quad match

PAYNE — The Lancer girls’ golf team traveled to Pleasant Valley Golf Course just outside of Payne to take on the Wayne Trace Lady Raiders, the Lady Bulldogs of Defiance, and the Lady Bombers of Edon.

The Defiance Bulldogs dominated the quad match with a team score of 177. The Lancers followed with a team score of 221. Edon was third with a score of 268, while Wayne Trace, with only three golfers competing, played as individuals.

Match medalist honors went to Defiance’s Val Shepherd, who posted a round of 43, while teammate

Lindsay Froelich garnered runner-up medalist honors with a 44. The Lancers’ Kaitlyn Brant, a senior, tied for third place with Nakea Jackson and Marisa Behringer of Defiance, while Emily Linder finished in sixth place for the Lady Raiders.

Other Lincolnview scores are as follows: Amanda Kocab (senior), 49; Macey Ashbaugh (junior), 52; and Mikenna Klinger (freshman), 75.

Other team scores for Wayne Trace: Karla Mosier, 58; and Paige Rahrig, 53.

Lincolnview opens the season at 1-1 and will host the Lincolnview Lady Lancer Invitational, as presented by Wilkinson Printing, today.  A shotgun start will be at 10 a.m. today.  Nine teams will compete for the invitational championship.
