Young Riders do well at Ohio State Fair

The Young Riders 4-H Horse Club had five members qualify against high standards to compete at the Ohio State Fair Junior Fair show at the Ohio State Fair.

These youngsters had an outstanding show, with all of them coming home with a top 10 placement in classes as large as 128 entries.
The five local 4-H members included Jeanalle Bonifas, daughter of Larry and Heather Bonifas of Landeck, who earned a Grand Champion trophy in Trail in Hand 9-18; Reagan Priest, daughter of Bob Priest and Kara Priest of Van Wert, who won a Reserve Champion trophy in the Stakes Race 9-13; Leah Lichtensteiger, daughter of Dave and Janice Lichtensteiger of Ohio City, who earned a ninth place rosette in the Stakes Race 14-18; Lindsey Motycka, daughter of Joe Motycka of Convoy, who earned a Reserve Champion trophy in Stakes Race 14-18, and a third place rosette from Key Hole 14-18; and Paige Motycka, daughter of Joe Motycka of Convoy, who won a seventh place rosette in Stakes Race 9-13.
These five Young Riders club members represented Van Wert County not only with their excellent horsemanship, but also with their outstanding sportsmanship.
In addition to the five members participating in the show, the following club members made the trip to support them: Emely Bauer, Jordan Hoffman, Kyle Agler, Bryce Mihm, Parker Mihm, Ericka Priest, Cassie Priest and Jacob German.
