“Outdoor fun” competition at the Camera Club

By Rex Dolby
The Wassenberg Camera Club met Thursday, August 9, at the Wassenberg Art Center for its regular monthly meeting. “Outdoor Fun” was the competition theme in prints and slides.
It turned out to be a very good evening for the Holloway family of Willshire. New member Mike won first place in prints with his picture of a water skier and second with a group in a boat signing OHIO. New member Glenda beat out an 8-way tie for third with a photo of two bathing beauties by the pond.
President Doug Heckler’s photo of two boys at a birthday party won out in a four-way tie for first in slides and Nancy Gribler’s picture of a fireworks display was picked for second.
Heckler told the club that a new item sign out policy had been initiated and all use of the photography studio and items signed out of the art center were to be recorded in the log book with complete information.
Heckler had sign-up sheets ready for the different jobs and times at the fair and for the October show needing help. He said that the club would be making arrangements for the refreshments at the reception.
The club welcomed new member Saliman Price of Van Wert as well as the Holloways to the club.
The club’s next meeting is not till September 13, but members will be kept plenty busy assisting with the fair’s photography exhibit and the Wassenberg Art Center’s 35th Annual Photography Exhibit.
