Cougar golfers down Shawnee at home
Van Wert golf information
Van Wert hosted Shawnee at Willow Bend Country Club Monday afternoon. In varsity action, the Cougars put together a 38-39-40-41 straight to shoot 158 against a very young Shawnee team that carded a 183. The JVs were also victorious, shooting 188 from the shorter tees, still a very solid score.
Jake Brake was medalist for the match with a 38, while right on his heels with a 39 was junior Justin Price, playing out of the sixth man position.
Medalist for the JVs was freshman Nick Etter, who had a 44, backed up by a pair of 45s from Robbie Trittschuh and Alex Miller.
“It was good to get off to a positive start in the WBL,” said Van Wert Coach Jeff Hood. “We need to realize that our team is deep and we can get a contribution from everyone; that should take the pressure off us individually”.
