Betty Louise Fortney

Betty Louise Fortney, 87, of Convoy, died at 6:04 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born October 3, 1924, in Monroeville, Ind., the daughter of the late Homer and Viola (Haas) Taylor. She first married Charles Baumert, who preceded her in death on October 20, 1971. On September 3, 1973, she married Esten M. Fortney, who survives in Convoy.

Other survivors include six children, Linda (Randy) McNamara of Payne, Jack (Jeanette) Baumert of Fort Wayne, Ind., Carl (Linda) Baumert of Antwerp, Pam (David) Herminghuysen and Jack (Tracy) Fortney, both of Van Wert, and Jill (Dave) Bauer of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Jill Fortney of Van Wert; eight grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A stepson, Jerry Fortney; two brothers; one sister; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 24, at Convoy United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gregory Leigh officiating. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery in Payne.

Calling hours are from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, August 23, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
