VW couple to renew vows at Hot Air Fest

Van Wert residents John Marshall and Therese Jacobs-Marshall will renew their 1990 wedding vows during the upcoming Van Wert Hot Air Festival at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds.  When Therese heard the famous Van Wert Hot Air Affair of the past was to return in 2012 as the Hot Air Festival, she told John she had decided on her anniversary and birthday gifts. The couple will renew their wedding vows in a hot air balloon at the festival on September 8, her birthday!

Hot Air Festival organizer Jerry Mazur promptly offered a tethered balloon to the Marshalls and proclaimed this “hot air affair” an official event of the festival. Mazur knows the Marshalls are well known in the Van Wert area, stating: “if John doesn’t draw them in on his fame alone, the grandstand will be packed as everyone will want to witness this event, and to see what Therese is wearing.”

The Marshalls will be going up in a hot air balloon on Saturday, September 8, starting at 4:30 p.m., at the county fairgrounds, in an area behind the main grandstand at the tethered balloon area.  Therese has been busy deciding on her attire, but isn’t saying what she is wearing.  She just said, “Come on out to the Fairgrounds and see for yourself!”

The Hot Air Festival runs Friday, September 7; Saturday, September 8; and Sunday, September 9, the weekend after the Van Wert County Fair.  There also will be aviation events at the Van Wert Airport during the Hot Air Festival.

One of the highlights of the Festival, besides the hot air balloons, will be the NASCAR automobiles on display courtesy of Roush Fenway Racing.  There also will be a 3M NASCAR simulator to let you feel what it is like to barrel around a NASCAR track!  There will be an adult beverage area and a VIP Sponsor Pavilion at the Fairgrounds.  There are many family activities for children during the Festival. Visit the Festival’s website at vanwerthotairfestival.com to view a complete schedule of events, balloon pilot bios, grandstand main events for Friday and Saturday evening, and to reserve a balloon ride for the family!
