The Van Wert High School varsity girls’ tennis team won a squeaker against St. Marys in a Western Buckeye League match on Monday.

No. 1 singles player Katie Etter, playing with a “ton of heart,” according to Coach Mitch Price, won 6-4, 6-3, while the Cougars’ No. 2 singles player, Rachel Chen, was an easy winner, 6-0, 6-0 to lead Van Wert. The No. 2 doubles team of Sydney Dull and Ali Moreland also won its match.

“We are showing a lot of heart out there and really coming together as a team,” Coach Price said after the match.

The Cougars have now won two matches in a row and are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the WBL.
