2 given prison for probation violations

Two people were given prison sentences during hearings held Wednesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Ronald Dillingham, 36, of Lima, was sentenced to serve his original sentence of 12 months in prison after he violated his community control program with drunk driving charges filed in both Lima and Defiance. Dillingham was sentenced back in June on charges of trafficking in cocaine and crack cocaine.

Judge Charles D. Steele gave Dillingham credit for 111 days already served while awaiting sentencing.

Jennifer Burk, 21, of Van Wert, was ordered to serve a nine-month sentence originally handed down on a charge of trespassing in a habitation, a fourth-degree felony offense, after she admitted to making false statements to her probation officer.

Judge Steele gave her credit for 147 days already served.

Two people pleaded guilty Wednesday to violating personal surety bond requirements. Robert Stoller, 30, of Van Wert, admitted to violating his bond by failing to report to his probation officer and for failing a drug test. His bond was vacated and he was ordered held on a $10,000 cash bond. Judge Steele did grant work release in the case and set a pretrial conference on a charge of domestic violence for Tuesday, September 4.

Jared Garwood, 24, of Van Wert, was released on a second surety bond after admitting his violated his original bond by failing to report as ordered to the Van Wert County Adult Probation Department. He is to strictly comply with all bond conditions this time or have his bond revoked.

Also Wednesday, two people changed their pleas from not guilty to guilty during hearings in Common Pleas Court.

Jared Smith, 24, of Van Wert, entered a guilty plea to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony offense. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing scheduled for Wednesday, October 10.

Klarisa Mendoza, 24, of Van Wert, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of heroin, also a fifth-degree felony. A presentence investigation was ordered and she will also be sentenced on October 10.
