United Way names 2012 Pacesetters

United Way information

There’s an old saying that people need to “follow the money” to find out a motive for a crime. For the United Way of Van Wert County, the slogan was changed to “go to the money” when it came to selecting a pacesetter for its 90th fundraising campaign.

“For the 90th United Way campaign I am proud to announce that several local banks will lead the way for 2012,” said Campaign Chair RJ Coleman. “We have been planning and brainstorming over the past few weeks (and) the banks were eager to participate, which is great.”

There will be some kind of activity going on at each financial institution involved, beginning September 10. Pacesetter institutions include Citizens National Bank, Van Wert Federal Savings Bank, First Bank of Berne, First Financial Bank, First Federal Savings & Loan, US Bank and Three Rivers Federal Credit Union.

“Penny wars, different contests, employee and customer participation will make this really fun,” Coleman noted. “I am grateful and think this will be a fun time with what is being planned.”

The United Way campaign chair added that customers should ask what participating financial institutions have going on in conjunction with the campaign when customers do their banking business.
