Cougar v-ball teams defeat Kenton

The Van Wert Cougars were back in action Thursday night at home when they took on the Kenton Wildcats in a Western Buckeye League match.

The first game went to the Cougars by a resounding score of 25-10. Kenton put up a better fight in the second game, but the Cougars finished the game with a 25-20 win. The third and final game of the match went to the Cougars by a score of 25-15.

Van Wert’s junior varsity also defeated Kenton in three games, 25-23, 15-25 and 25-15. The JV leaders were Dominique Grothause, who was 17 of 19 serving, and Saige Royer, who was 13 of 13 serving. The Cougar freshman team also defeated Kenton in two games.

Van Wert’s varsity is now 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the WBL. The Cougars will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Coldwater to face the Cavaliers. There will be freshman, junior varsity and varsity matches that night.
