Lady Knights beat Parkway in volleyball

CONVOY – The Crestview Lady Knight volleyball team opened the week with a big win over always-tough Parkway on Monday, taking the non-conference match in straight games by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-23. With the win, the Knights improve to 3-2 overall.
The Knights will be back in action Wednesday as they host Delphos Jefferson to begin Northwest Conference play.
“I was really proud of the girls tonight, as they worked so well together as a team and showed so much more consistency,” said Crestview Coach Tammy Gregory. “The girls continued being aggressive and really worked to better each ball. This group of girls works hard and will continue to be very competitive as we look to improve our overall game each night.”
Leading the way in Monday night’s match were the following:
- Serving – Mekale Clifton, 16/16; Kirstin Hicks, 16/16 with an ace; and Megan Hartman, 12/12 with an ace.
- Hitting – Hicks, 13 kills; Hartman, 9 kills; Courtney Trigg, 7 kills; Clifton, 7 kills.
- Setting – Haley Helm, 32 assists.
- Digs – Tianna Rager, 18 digs; Hicks, 16 digs; Helm, 12 digs; Clifton, 11 digs.
- Serve receive – Led by Rager and Kennis Mercer.
- Blocks – Trigg, 9 blocks; Hartman, 5 blocks.
The Crestview junior varsity fell to the Panthers JVs in two games, 9-25 and 25-27. They Knight JVs are now 0-5 on the year.
